Uff! Uff!

Jack informed us "dog, uff uff". What a smart boy! He now goes around the house making barking noises, "uff uff uff". We rented 101 Dalmations and he absolutely loved it. Through out the whole movie he barked. Then he started saying "pup pup" when he would see all the puppies. It was so cute.

Shades

We spend a lot of time outside, so I thought I would try and get Jack use to wearing his sunglasses. It's a miracle he kept them on long enough to get this picture. He would much rather play with them then wear them.

Dog-gone it!

Well it's only natural that Jack has had a fascination with dogs. With two inside dogs and two more that sleep outside, he's been surrounded by dogs since he was born. Heck, Herbert(pug) even eats dinner with us. Today Jack spoke his first real word, besides Mama and Dada, and of course it had to be dog. All day long when he would see a dog he would start up "Dog, Dog, Dog". Of course his pronunciation leaves a little room for interpretation, but I am sure he is saying dog. When I would mimic him and say dog back he would get excited, like "yeah, you finally understand me".

Awesome Elmo Blanky

Since Jack is obsessed with Elmo I come up with crazy Elmo ideas to make. I came up with the idea of a blanket shaped like a giant Elmo head then convinced my mom to make it. It turned out so cute. It is totally the cutest Elmo blanky ever. The first time Jack saw it he had an absolute fit. He loves his new Elmo blanky.

Bucket Head

Jack thought this bucket made a great hat. Maybe he'll start a new fashion trend.

If Your Happy And You Know It Clap Your Hands

Yeah! Jack learned to clap his hands yesterday. He has learned to do a ton of other things, but had just neglected to learn hand clapping. He could give five, walk backwards, and do a lot of other stuff that I find way impressive. I was beginning to think that his hands were each embedded with magnets of opposite attraction that forcibly kept his hands from coming together. Luckily I was wrong and he can clap his hands. Yeah!

Fishy Face

Yesterday Jack learned another new talent, fishy face. I put him in his highchair for dinner and he started making silly faces. The silly faces turned into fishy faces. Once I figured out what he was doing I started making fishy faces to and he would mimic them back at me. Jack thinks it's a super fun game.

X-Box

This picture is of Shaun and Jack playing video games. You can tell by Jack's face he is already addicted. I'm just glad Shaun only gets the urge to play X-Box about once every two months or so.

Palmetto State Park

We made a day trip over to Palmetto State Park to go hiking. Me and Shaun took turns carrying Jack in the back pack, he loved being up high and being able to see everything around him. We walked down to the river and of course we had to make a pit stop at the swings. It is a really nice park and Jack really liked checking out all the scenery around him.

Sarah's Wedding

My cousin Sarah got married this weekend and my mother made the cake, so I wanted to show off how beautiful it turned out. We left Jack with my aunt because we didn't know if he would sit through the wedding service, he had a great time over there. Since I didn't have Jack to take a million pictures of, I tortured Jamie and Cassie. They were really great sports and I got a few really cute pictures. They look so sweet together.

Keep on Rolling

Jack got this toy for Christmas, but in the last couple weeks it has become one of his favorites. When he's not rolling it around all over the house he is carrying it around all over the house. He also likes to climb into his chair with it so he can roll it with his hand and make music. He's so silly.

Sucker

A couple of days ago Jack ate his first sucker all by himself, supervised of course. It was banana flavored, so by the time he was done he was covered in sticky drool that smelled like bananas. Yum.

Elmo Obsession

I am convinced that Sesame Street must be able to brainwash small children. How else can you explain the overall appeal of Elmo? It seems like every kid goes through an Elmo stage at some point. Right now Jack is really into Elmo. If he sees anything with Elmo on it he gets excited. At Walmart the other day he got excited over a little girls swimsuit (no, he's not a cross dresser) that had Elmo plastered across the front. He thought it was hilarious. Only Elmo has the power to make swim wear funny.

Stop & Smell The Fake Flowers

Jack likes these flower arrangements, he really likes to pick the flowers out of the arrangements. It so cute when he hands you a flower that he picked for you that it makes it hard to get mad. We are working on not touching things that aren't ours of course, but until we learn not to touch the flowers it's so unbelievably adorable.

He's a Natural

I took this video last week and still can't believe it. For Easter we gave Jack two giant plastic golf clubs and he's been carrying them around ever since. Last week he did something that I think is amazing. He started using the golf club to hit his ball around, all on his own with no coaching. I think that's pretty smart for a 13 month old to figure out. I'm not saying he's the next Einstein, but maybe the next Tiger Woods?

Hosed

This is just a short video of Jack discovering the water hose. Water comes out of there, amazing isn't it?

Lockhart State Park

Today we took Jack to the Lockhart State Park for a picnic. He had his favorite, beans from TacoBell of course. The park is really pretty. It has a nice playscape with several slides, five I think. It also has a "rock" climbing wall. There is a pretty waterfall that is great for taking pictures and there is a nice scenic overlook at the pavilion. The hiking trails look good to, but my Mom wasn't up to it. To be honest I wasn't either. I forgot the hiking backpack for Jack and I wasn't about to schlepp him around the trails. Jack had a really good time, we let him run around at the playscape and all over the grassy areas.

Zilker Botanical Garden

We took Jack over to Zilker Botanical Gardens yesterday and he had a blast. The flowers are amazing right now. We let him walk around and we took him to look at the fish. He got a big kick out of the fish. We took plenty of pictures and I think we got a few really good ones. If you haven't made it over to the botanical gardens yet this year, or have never been you should really check it out. This is one of the best times of the year to go.

Barrel of Monkeys

My Mom was brave and decided to take all the kids and me to the zoo. So we loaded up the car and headed out. They got to see all the animals, but the monkeys were especially a favorite. We took a break from walking around to eat some lunch and take a ride on the train. By the time we got them back in the car they were all pooped out, and before long they were all passed out.

Spinning & Dancing

This is a short clip of Jack's new talent, spinning. There is also a little bit of his groovy dance moves. He is really into spinning right now since it's a cool new thing. He'll spin, then fall on his bum, then laugh, then do it all over again. He also likes to dance. He has a toy that plays "Do you know the muffin man", it is his favorite jam to get down to.
